The municipality lies on the Southern portion of Davao Oriental between latitude of 6 degrees 55’ – 7 degrees 04’ North and longitude of 125 degrees 55’ – 126 degrees 06’ East. It is bounded on Lupon the South East by Davao Gulf on the West and by Pantukan on the North. It is approximately 122 kilometers 122 from Davao City.
Basically, Banaybanay has a soil type/characteristic suitable for agriculture. About 60.32% of the total land area is sandy loam, 26.83% is clay loam and 12.85% is clay.
